Seine Majestats Grundschiff
Wilhelmina von Holstein

The SMGS Wilhelmina von Holstein was the first fully operational steam landship. Built by the Christiewerke Kraftegesellschaft in 1880, the Wilhelmina was small and lightly armed in comparison with the land dreadnaughts to come only a few years later, but she was the military wonder in her time. After successful testing in Bavaria, and figuring for many years as the star attraction in many of the Kaiser's military parades, she was sent to German Ouargistan to learn how the design would stand up to the rigors of the colonial environment. Though long out of date, she was part of the joint European expedition to intercept the American landships, and was destroyed attempting a ramming attack against the much more powerful USLS Lexington at Al Bunrab.

Construction
Wilhelmina
is 3.6" (92mm) long and 1.3" (35mm) wide. She is made from stiff paper around foamcore formers and sprayed olive drab, with a toothpick for a flagstaff and a large drinking straw for a stack. The tracks, mostly hidden beneath the skirt, are extremely simple--stiff paper around foamcore, with no bogie or spring detail. Her gun is a commercial miniature with a metal shield and a two-man crew.

Wilhelmina was built by Charles, the first landship in a Ouargistan game. She was played as basically a self-propelled field gun in continuous hard cover.
